FOOTNOTES

  1. I found a meme that is running my life and I know where it comes from… wohooo.
  2. “I have to prove: “what I know”, “what I can”, “that I am smart”, “that I work hard” etc. To show off.
  3. As I can see it, this context was created by my father. As long as I remember he has been telling me this in Kurdish: “You are in the ears of the bull”. Meaning, not aware, not intelligent, do not amount for anything or being like a donkey.
  4. No matter what I did, got a degree, was not dependent on them like my younger brother and sister, was one of the best in the military, started to make a living.
  5. That is the context I’ve been living from and that has created the behaviors that I don’t listen, I don’t hear and I don’t learn, being busy with the dutifulness of proving my self like the memes say.
  6. I actually don’t need to prove myself and I don’t need to resist those words either.
  7. A voice tells me now while I write this: F… it. If I am in bull’s ear I am in the bull’s ear, so what?!
  8. I don’t like to be there so I get to do something about it and that is what I am doing with this work
  9. If I told you that you have your head up your ass… you would know what I mean, but that is not what I meant. If I told you that you live in a small box, you would know what I mean, and it would not make a damn difference.
